Known as the "Garden of the Patagonia" due to
its lush microclimate, Villa La Angostura is a small mountain
village of around 12,000 people. It is located on the southern
tip of the province of Neuquen, in and among stunning Andes mountain
ranges and gorgeous crystal lakes that extend beyond the eye's view.
Our unique location places us in the very heart of the Patagonia
Lake Region equidistant from all of the surrounding activity
centers, namely Bariloche (83km), San Martin de Los Andes (110km)
and the Chilean border (23km). It is the perfect location to
centralize and launch any activity within the region!

Sailing through the Lakes
There are half-day and
full-day excursions sailing around the enormous and
beautiful Lake Nahuel Huapi. Each trip includes a
"Welcome Champagne Toast", an excellent smoked meat and
cheese platter and a variety of drinks (sodas, juices,
water, wine). A truly unforgettable trip!
Valle del Cajón Negro ("Valley of the Black
Box")
There is a beautiful, secret valley in the deep
forests between the Inacayal and Belvedere Mountain
Peaks that only a guide can help you find! It's
called the "Cajón Negro", which means "Black Drawer" or
"Black Box". It takes approximately 3-4 hours if
the trip is made on foot or you could enjoy it with a
little less effort atop a horse. This trip can
only be made during the summer and fall, as it is closed
off by snow and mud in the winter and spring. It
is a truly beautiful way to convene with nature at its
most elegant!

Fishing in Villa La Angostura
The specialty of Villa La Angostura is Fishing! You can
cast your line in any way that you choose:
trolling, spinning or fly fishing, but
without a doubt, it will be one of the best fishing experiences
of your life, hands down!
We rely on the opinion of our local
experts, such as fly-fishing guide, Omar Martinez of Patagon
Fly, who recommends:
- Of course, one of the most famous
fly fishing spots around the globe known as the "Mouth of
the Correntoso River" (one of the shortest rivers in the
world) where a record 11kg (24lb) trout was nabbed.
Check it out!! And don't forget to get the additional
fishing permit you will need to fish there due to its
popularity, it will cost you $5 pesos/day or $60
pesos/season.
- The streams Huemel, La Estacada
and the Regintuco, as well as the Río Bonito as it enters
into Lake Nahuel Huapi...but, also don't leave out the mouth
of the Rio Machete, the Río Totoral or the Río Pireco
located in Brazo Rincón. All fantastic!! And
lastly, he recommends Lago Espejo, Lago Espejo "Chico" and
of course, Lago Correntoso.
- For trolling, he suggests the
Brazo Angostura (near the tip of the Quetrihue Pennisula
where the Arrayanes Forest is located), Brazo Machete, Brazo
Rincón and finally, Brazo Ultima Esperanza...Enjoy!!
